I recently found a huge stash of brand new, unused, not-written-in, barely even opened beautiful journals I have purchased in the past few months. I love the feel of a new journal. I guess that explains why I bought so many that remain new! I took a picture of the journals and posted it on Facebook and Instagram simply because I KNEW I couldn't be the only one who had this (somewhat) hidden obsession. And...I was right. Several people chimed in saying how many pristine journals they had in their possession that had yet to be used.
When I really thought some more about this, I learned something about myself. While I love the wide, blank, empty pages in a new journal, those same pages can be totally overwhelming and intimidating. When it comes to using these books to make lists, write poetry or song lyrics, jot down notes to myself or even to doodle a bit - I have no problem. However, when it comes to journaling to go "deep", that empty page is scary as hell!
So I thought, maybe I'm not the only one who has a hard time getting started with that empty page. Perhaps if I can lay out some topics to write about for a while - maybe a month - to get me started, I could take it from there and make journaling a part of my daily routine.
And now here we are. And I am inviting you to join me, if you choose. I am kicking off the Little Bit 2016 Journal Challenge! It will begin on Thursday, December 1, 2016 and go until January 1, 2017. Once you sign up, you will get a daily email that lays out the writing topic for the NEXT day. That way no matter what time of day you choose to write you will know in advance what topic to think about and explore in your writing.
I promise on every one of my beautiful journals, even the ones I didn't find until AFTER I took this picture (yep....I know), I will NOT bombard you with multiple emails per day!
If you are interested in joining this challenge, leave your information below, expect an email with the first topic on November 30, and prepare to get a new healthy habit off to a great start!
